TILL EN FRAMTID SOM INTE FANNS
A competition launched by interior designers Struktur in Stockholm. The commission was to visualize tomorrow's office in the year 2030. The project started with an open discussion about the subject, mostly resulting in thoughts about future technology and the possibilities of working from your home office. A frightening idea; If you are not supposed to meet anyone in real life – wouldn't we loose some of our humanity? Therefore, instead of anticipating what the future might hold in ways of technology, Böfüms made a guidebook that notice human values and feelings we want to take with us into the future.
The book "To a future which never came" (Till en framtid som inte fanns) was inspired by the dystopian office so many of us spend our lives in.
The project is an ironic answer to tomorrows emotionless workplace. With estethics influenced by everyday office situations: repetitious computing, stock photos and copying machines. It's a manual on how to express yourself physically in tomorrows digital world. The manual is released today in order for the reader to avoid this future. Or, in the worst case, serve as a manual twenty years from now for those who forgot about feelings on the way there.
The book was awarded first price and was/is used by Struktur.
Made in collaboration with copywriters Martina Borg and Fredrik Stiber.
